Sarah Davies paints abstract landscape based on thoughts and experiences in magical natural places that have been worshipped and revered for centuries. Images of vast open valleys and distant filtered light observed during childhood road trips in the West appear in work that blurs the line between reality and abstraction. For her, creating art that suggests something beyond that which meets the eye is a way of exploring the relationship that ancient cultures had with the land and it’s secrets and mysteries. It is a way to invite deep exploration through abstract images.
Sarah spends as much time as possible in the mountains observing light, shapes and shadows that hold secrets of ancestors whose stories are yet untold. The silent powers of the natural world are her driving force. Sarah’s work is shown in Seattle Washington and Sun Valley, Idaho
